KABAKA celebrates 27th anniversary

In a jubilant return, the Advocates for Women’s Rights or Kababaihan ng Bataan para sa Kaunlaran (KABAKA), marks its 27th anniversary, coinciding with the celebration of National Women’s Month.

Led by Bataan First District Representative Geraldine Roman, the organization’s revival signifies a renewed commitment to empowering women and advancing gender equality in the province. KABAKA has been a beacon of hope and empowerment for women in Bataan for nearly three decades. Founded in 1995 by former Congresswoman Herminia Roman during the term of her husband, Rep. Antonino “Tony” Roman Jr, the organization has played a pivotal role in championing women’s rights, advocating for gender equality, and providing support to women in need.

This year’s anniversary celebration holds special significance as it aligns with National Women’s Month, a time to recognize and honor the contributions and achievements of women in various fields.

The theme for this year’s celebration, “#AgendaNiJuana: Pagsasanib-pwersa para sa pantay at inklusibong bukas,” underscores the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving a more equitable and inclusive society for all. Congresswoman Geraldine Roman expressed her enthusiasm for the organization’s revival and the upcoming anniversary celebration. She emphasized the importance of KABAKA’s role in empowering women and promoting gender equality in Bataan. “KABAKA has been a strong advocate for women’s rights and empowerment in our province. As we celebrate our 27th anniversary and National Women’s Month, let us continue to work together towards a more inclusive and gender-equal society,” she said through her recent official Facebook Page post. The anniversary celebration will feature a series of events and activities aimed at raising awareness about women’s issues, promoting gender equality, and celebrating the achievements of women in Bataan. These include forums, seminars, and community outreach programs that will highlight the importance of women’s empowerment and gender equality in achieving sustainable development.

As KABAKA embarks on its 27th year, it remains committed to its mission of empowering women, advocating for their rights, and promoting gender equality in Bataan. The organization’s revival serves as a testament to the resilience and strength of women in the province, who continue to strive for a better future for themselves and their communities. In celebrating its anniversary and National Women’s Month, KABAKA reaffirms its commitment to advancing the rights and welfare of women in Bataan and beyond. Through unity, collaboration, and advocacy, KABAKA aims to create a more equitable and inclusive society where women are empowered to reach their full potential.
